(Eagle News) — Rescue operations are now ongoing at the site of a landslide in Natonin, Mountain Province where the Department of Public Works and Highways DPWH second district engineering office building was buried under mud and rocks after typhoon Rosita’s onslaught on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, according to DPWH secretary Mark Villar.
“Rescue operations now on going at Brgy Banawel, Natonin. Let’s pray for those affected by the landslide,” said DPWH Secretary Villar in a message to reporters.
He also sent the photos of the ongoing search and rescue operations at the site.
There were 31 reportedly inside the DPWH building when the landslide occurred between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30.
The Office of Civil Defense-Cordillera Administrative Region (OCD-CAR) Director Ruben Carandang said the 31 people inside the DPWH building were 20 DPWH contractors, one project engineer, three security guards and seven evacuees who sought refuge during the onslaught of typhoon Rosita.
