Vermont protesters repeatedly disrupt Trump rally

About 20 protesters interrupted a Donald Trump rally in Burlington, Vermont several times on Thursday (January 7), to boos from supporters of the U.S. Republican presidential candidate inside a theater and cheers from fellow protesters outside.

Trump said he expected to encounter opposition in Vermont as his campaign stopped at the home town of Democratic rival Bernie Sanders.

“It was interesting, because when we said that we were going to come up here, a lot of the guys said ‘why’? Most of the guys are not coming up. They’re afraid to come up here because it has the tendency to be a little liberal, pretty rough,” Trumps said.

“And if you look at the candidates coming here, I think I’m like the only one. I’m the only one,” he continued.

As the interruptions mounted, Trump became more agitated, telling security guards to work faster to remove protesters and telling them to “get ’em out” from the theater.

Trump said the more than a half a dozen breaks to remove protesters added to the excitement of the event.

“You know, it’s sort of fun. Isn’t this more exciting? You know? You go to a Hillary thing, and it’s like boring. You go to a Jeb thing and fall asleep,” he said.

A recent Reuters/Ipsos polling showed Trump with 38 percent support among Republican respondents, followed by U.S. Senator Ted Cruz with nearly 15 percent, and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson with 12 percent. (Reuters)
