(Eagle News) – Typhoon Hanna continued to intensify as it moves towards southern Ryukyu islands in Japan and is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday morning, August 9.

PAGASA said the outer rainbrands of Hanna will still bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains and gusty winds over Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands which are both still under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 1.

The weather bureau said Hanna “remains less likely to make landfall on any part of the country” but it is monitoring another typhoon that is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility and another low pressure area seen west of Pangasinan

As of 4 a.m. today, Thursday, August 8, PAGASA is monitoring the LPA estimated at 270 kilometers West of Dagupan City, Pangasinan (16.0°N, 117.8°E).

But this LPA is also not likely to develop into a tropical depression.

As of 4 a.m. Thursday Typhoon “KROSA” was estimated at 1,940 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon which is still outside PAR. It has maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 150 km/h. It is moving Northwest slowly and is not expected to enter the country, PAGASA’s 5 a.m. update said.

Moderate to heavy monsoon rains may effect MIMAROPA, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, and Batangas today, while light to moderate with at times heavy rains may prevail over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas.

Tomorrow, Friday, August 9, moderate to heavy monsoon rains may affect Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains may prevail over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and Western Visayas.

PAGASA said occasional gusty conditions will continue over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon.

It warned that sea travel is risky over the seaboards of areas under Signal No. 1, including the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas, and the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao due to potentially rough sea conditions.
