The Weeknd, “Avengers” dominate People’s Choice nominations

Nominations for the People’s Choice Awards were announced on Tuesday (November 3) and The Weeknd, “Grey’s ,Anatomy” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron” got the most nods in their respective categories: music, television and movies.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” was the top movie nominee with seven nominations, which included Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie. The film’s stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Hemsworth also all got nods.

On the music side, The Weeknd garnered five nods including Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Album for “Beauty Behind the Madness.” The Weeknd beat out Taylor Swift for most nods; she earned four including Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Song for “Bad Blood.”

And for TV, “Grey’s Anatomy” was the most nominated TV show with six nods, including Favorite TV Show and Favorite Network TV Drama.

Dwayne Johnson is the only nominee to receive nominations across three different genres: Favorite Action Movie Actor, Favorite Cable TV Actor, and, in digital, for Favorite Social Media Celebrity.

Winners will be revealed on January 6 during a live TV broadcast from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre. (Reuters)
