21st French Film Festival rolls out the red carpet in Manila

QUEZON City, Philippines — The 21st French Film Festival rolled out the red carpet for Cannes Best Actress 2016 Ms. Jaclyn Jose on Wednesday night. The arrivals of the guests started around 6 PM at the Central Square in the heart of Bonifacio Global City. Many movie goers were already excited about the opening night from walking on the red carpet to photo op.

“We see that the appeal of French cinema in the Philippines grows year after year, and this is why we continue to organize this festival”, French Ambassador Thierry Mathou said.

“For a week, we give the Filipino public the opportunity to better know a cinema which has been a reference for independent movies all around the world, a cinema that raises questions and broadens perspective through a style of storytelling that is uniquely French.”

The French Film Festival was organized by the Embassy of France in the Philippines, Institut Francais, the Alliance Francaise de Manille and Cebu, the Film Development Council of the Philippines.In addition, Eagle Broadcasting Corporation/Net 25 management representatives Robert Capistrano and  James Manzanero also attended the event.

Public Screenings of 17 contemporary French Films will run simultaneously from June 9 to 14 at Greenbelt 3 cinemas and the Bonifacio High Street cinemas, including a tribute to Philippine cinema on June 12, Independence Day. The screening of Lawrence Fajardo’s Imbisibol and Carl Joseph Papa’s animated film, Manang Biring were also included.
