Marvel announces Tom Holland as new Spider-Man
JUNE 24 (Reuters) — Tom Holland has been selected to play Spider-Man in the next incarnation of the super hero franchise. The 19-year old actor, who played opposite Naomi Watts in “The Impossible,” is expected to appear in “Captain America: Civil War” before his first standalone film hits theaters in July 2017. Holland will follow in the web-slinging footsteps of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, both of whom played the character on the big screen.
