(Eagle News)—Executive judges in areas “severely affected” by the continuous rains and flooding such as Marikina may exercise their discretion to suspend work. This is according to Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio, in a Twitter post on Monday, Aug. 13. Carpio issued the announcement as rains continued to pound parts of the country, with two weather disturbances outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility enhancing the southwest monsoon.

In an advisory, the Comelec said work was suspended in the National Capital Region, Regions 4A and 4B, Bataan, Bulacan and Zambales. Voter registration in those areas was also suspended. Monsoon rains have caused flooding in several areas.
