3 Cabinet execs, several others get CA nod

(Eagle News) — Three Cabinet members and several others were confirmed by the Commission on Appointments on Wednesday, May 30. Confirmed as Tourism, Justice and Agrarian Reform secretaries, respectively, were Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, Menardo Guevarra and John Castriciones. Puyat was appointed to head the tourism department after Wanda Teo resigned over a P60-million advertisement placement deal. CA justice named Comelec commissioner

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has named Court of Appeals Justice Socorro Inting commissioner of the Commission on Elections (Comelec). Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Inting, who replaced Commissioner Arthur Lim who retired in February, will serve until February 2, 2025. Inting, who was also a prosecutor, comes from Davao, like the President. Inting’s appointment comes as the Comelec gears up for the May barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
