RORO death toll now at 8

The death toll on the sunken RORO vessel Maharlika II has now risen to 8. Authorities are expecting that there will be more casualties in the tragedy. This is because the number of passengers listed does not tally with the number of passengers rescued as well as the number of passengers missing. RORO ship sinks off Southern Leyte

MANILA, Sept. 13 (PNA) — A roll-on/roll-off (RORO) vessel, the M/V Maharlika 2, sank off the waters of Southern Leyte Saturday afternoon after being battered by heavy waves triggered by Tropical Storm “Luis.” Rescue operations are ongoing as of this posting. The M/V Maharlika 2 came from San Ricardo, Southern Leyte and was headed for Surigao City. (PNA)
