Additional authority, not emergency powers

Malacañang clears that they are asking for additional authority for President Aquino, not emergency powers. According to Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte, they will distance themselves from the term “emergency powers”, which is under the Constitution, while “additional authority” is under the EPIRA law. The Palace said that they are ready to coordinate with the Congress to solve the looming energy crisis.

President Aquino will be returning to the Philippines with 2.3 billion dollars worth of investment from Europe after several business meetings. He added that a total of 55, 000 new employment will be created by said investments. His delegation was able to meet with 19 companies, all of whom praised the economic performance of the Philippines.
