5.5-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A magnitude-5.5 quake hit Davao Occidental on Saturday, May 12, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said. According to PHIVOLCS, the quake struck 15 kilometers east of Malita at 4:56 a.m. The quake—tectonic in origin— had a depth of focus of 100 kilometers. An instrumental intensity III was felt in Alabel, Sarangani and in General Santos City. According to PHIVOLCS, no damage nor aftershocks were expected.  

Successive quakes hit Davao Occidental

(Eagle News) — Successive earthquakes hit Davao Occidental early Friday,  May 11, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. At 4:06 a.m., a 5.0-magnitude earthquake hit 169 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. Seconds later, a 4.7-magnitude one struck 123 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos. PHIVOLCS lowers Mayon volcano alert status

  (Eagle News)—The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has lowered the alert status of Mayon volcano, following what it said was a “general decline in unrest.” In its 8 a.m. bulletin, PHIVOLCS said  the alert status was now at 2 instead of 3, considering that seismic activity has “waned,” and no new lava has been detected on the volcano’s summit crater. Earthquake rocks Antique on Tuesday

(Eagle News) — A 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck Antique on Tuesday morning. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the earthquake hit five kilometers southwest of Sebaste at 6:37 a.m. The earthquake–which had a depth of focus of one kilometer—was tectonic in origin. An Intensity III was felt in Sebaste, PHIVOLCS said.  

4.7-magnitude quake hits Ilocos Norte Province

(Eagle News) — A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck Ilocos Norte Province on Tuesday afternoon, February 6. (Eagle News) — A 4.1-magnitude earthquake hit Davao Occidental on Thursday morning. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the earthquake struck 186 kilometers southeast of Sarangani at 6:41 a.m. The quake was tectonic in origin. There were no aftershocks nor property damage reported.

4.5-magnitude earthquake hits Surigao del Norte

(Eagle News) — A 4.5-magnitude quake hit Surigao del Norte on Saturday, December 30. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the earthquake hit three kilometers southwest of Burgos town at 9:24 a.m. The depth of focus of the quake–which was tectonic in origin—was at 11 kilometers.

4.1-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental

(Eagle News) — A 4.1 -magnitude earthquake hit Davao Occidental on Thursday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 101 kilometers east of Sarangani at 7:34 a.m. The depth of focus of the quake–which was tectonic in origin—was at 51 kilometers. There were no reported aftershocks nor damage.

(Eagle News) — A magnitude-5.1 earthquake struck Surigao del Norte on Sunday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck 36 kilometers northeast of Burgos at 10:32 p.m. The depth of focus of the quake was 14 kilometers. 4.9-magnitude quake hits Ilocos Sur

(Eagle News) — A 4.9-magnitude quake struck Ilocos Sur on Thursday. The earthquake struck 43 kilometers northwest of Santa Catalina at 3:06 p.m. Depth of focus was at 25 kilometers. The earthquake was felt at Intensity III in Vigan, and at Intensity V in Sinait, both in Ilocos Sur. An Intensity III was felt in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. No aftershocks are expected.
