Diokno named new BSP governor

(Eagle News)—Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno is the new Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas governor. President Rodrigo Duterte himself made the appointment. Diokno replaces Nestor Espenilla, who passed away recently due to tongue cancer. Rep. Rolando Andaya has accused Diokno of being behind alleged insertions in the proposed national budget for 2019 but the Palace has stood by Diokno, noting his integrity.

BSP Governor Espenilla passes away

(Eagle News)–Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Nestor Espenilla passed away on Saturday night. Espenilla, who had been battling tongue cancer, was 60 years old. He was appointed BSP governor in 2017.
