NEGROS OCC., February 28 (PIA6) —The Employees’ Compensation Commission is warning the public in the Negros Island Region to be aware of poseurs extorting money from unsuspecting victims in exchange for a promise to receive benefit from the commission. Negros Island is Philippines’ newest region

JUNE 25 — The establishment of Negros Island Region (NIR) per Executive Order No. 183 signed by His Excellency Benigno S. Aquino III on May 29, 2015, brings the total number of regions in the country to 18. President Aquino signs Executive Order creating Negros Island Region

MANILA, June 5  — President Aquino has issued Executive Order no. 183 creating a Negros Island Region (NIR), comprising of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental. The President signed the order last May 29 “to further accelerate the social and economic development of the cities and municipalities comprising the provinces of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental and improve the delivery of public services” in the two provinces.
