Mohagher Iqbal’s real name was finally revealed when records show him using the name “Lubis Abas” before joining the first batch of members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), before disaffiliating with the said group and joining the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
According to Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., what Mohagher Iqbal did was tantamount to tricking the government when he used an alias while negotiating with the government, further adding that by doing so, Iqbal has endangered the existence of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
As the Senate Committee on Local Government continues with its investigation regarding the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), the Senate asked Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) chief negotiator Mohagher Iqbal to reveal his true identity with the latter refusing, saying that as a member of rebel group, he has a right to use an alias for his protection.
