(Eagle News)– The Human Rights Victims’ Claims Board (HRVCB) announced on Wednesday that the reviewing of claims for compensation from Martial Law victims will be finished next year. HRVCB Chairperson Lina Sarmiento said they already cross-checked 17,000 out of 75,000 applications. The board has until May 12, 2018 to finish processing the compensation for Martial Law victims.

Human rights victims may wait for a long time for compensation
QUEZON City, Philippines – The Human Rights Victims Claims Board admits that said victims will still wait for a long time before they are compensated. Said agency said that it received 75, 000 applications and have verified 20, 000 only. Said delay was due to the difficulty of verifying allegations of torture.
