(Eagle News)—SM Group founder Henry Sy Sr. has passed away. He was 94 years old. An SM Group statement sent to the media said Sy passed away peacefully in his sleep early Saturday morning. “There are no details available as of the moment,” it said. Sy was also the chairman emeritus of SM Prime Holdings Inc., BDO Unibank Inc. and SM Development Corporation, and Highlands Prime Inc. He was also honorary chair of China Banking Corporation.

SM founder Sy has an estimated wealth of $12.7 billion and is the 94th richest in the world. This is the 10th consecutive time that Henry Sy topped the list.
