Bacoor City, Cavite placed under state of calamity

(Eagle News) — Bacoor City in Cavite has been placed under a state of calamity. This was following heavy flooding in the city, brought about by monsoon rains in the past few days. The rains are the result of “Henry” and then “Inday” enhancing the southwest monsoon. In its latest advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the monsoon rains would prevail over parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, until Saturday.

Work in Senate suspended for Wednesday, July 18

(Eagle News)– Work in the Senate was suspended on Wednesday, July 18. Senator Gregorio Honasan II, Senate officer in charge, made the announcement in a text message to reporters. It was unclear if the hearing on proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law will push through. Monsoon rains have caused flooding in some areas in Metro Manila overnight.  

Work in all courts in M. Manila suspended for Wednesday, July 18

(Eagle News)—The Supreme Court  suspended work in all courts in Metro Manila on Wednesday, July 18. Acting Chief Justice Antonio  said the suspension, which applies to the SC, Court of Tax Appeals, Sandiganbayan,  and Court of Appeals, was in view of the heavy rains and “persistent threats of flooding.” Monsoon rains caused flooding in several areas overnight.  

MMDA lifts number-coding scheme in M. Manila

Suspension does not apply to Makati, Las Piñas (Eagle News)—-The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority lifted the number-coding scheme for private vehicles and city buses in Metro Manila on Wednesday, July 18. In a tweet, the MMDA however said the lifting of the scheme does not apply to Las Piñas nor Makati. The suspension comes amid the monsoon rains that caused heavy flooding in some areas.
