South Korea to fine BMW $10 mn over engine fires response

SEOUL, South Korea (AFP) — South Korea said Monday it will fine German automaker BMW 11.2 billion won ($10 million) for allegedly dragging its feet in recalling cars with faulty engines linked to dozens of engine fires. At least three killed in QC fire

(Eagle News)–At least three people were killed in a fire that hit a merchandise store in Quezon City on Thursday, Dec. 20. Authorities have yet to identify those killed in the fire that started at 3 a.m. in Novaliches, but reports said they included a five-year-old boy,  an 80-year-old woman and a 40-year-old woman. The fire, which reached the third alarm, spread to adjacent structures. A fire-out was declared at 4:22 a.m.

One person hurt in QC fire

(Eagle News) — One person was reported injured after a fire hit a house in Quezon City on Tuesday, Dec. 11. A report from the Bureau of Fire Protection said Merrian Vargas, 55, sustained burns in her right arm in the blaze in a bungalow in Green Meadows Subdivision in Barangay Ugong Norte. The fire, which destroyed P500,000 worth of properties, started at 4:07 a.m. A fire-out was declared at 5:30 a.m.
