(Eagle News) — The first group of Filipino evacuees from Ukraine arrived in Poland over the weekend, the Department of Foreign Affairs said. The DFA said the evacuees were welcomed by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr., after attending the European Union Ministerial Forum for Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific in Paris. Manila, Philippines — More than 100 Filipino workers in Ukraine were advised to prepare for possible evacuation amid tense military standoff between Ukraine and Russia over control of Crimea. The Philippine government raised crisis alert level 2 over Ukraine, with Russia threatening military assault if Ukrainian troops will not stand down in Crimea, an autonomous region of Ukraine off the northern coast of the Black Sea.
