DOE investigates Mindanao blackout

The Department of Energy (DOE) has created its investigating bodies to examine the 7-hour blackout that occurred in Mindanao yesterday (April 6). According to Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla, the said power outrage could have been caused by sabotage.

Power supply in damaged areas

Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla said that it will not take one week for the power supply to return to normal in damaged areas. He added that such damage in power supply only occurred in isolated areas. Areas experiencing loss of power supply include Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union and Pangasinan. He also said that all transmission lines are back to normal as well as the distribution utilities of the cooperatives.

Palace wants public to conserve energy as Luzon plant carries out maintenance shutdown

Red alert status, raised over the Visayas grid

MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines placed the Visayas region on “red alert” because of the insufficient power reserve brought about by the shutdown of three major power plants in the region.
