Typhoons, El Nino affect PH agriculture performance for January-March 2016

MANILA, Philippines — Agriculture posted a 4.53 percent drop in production in the first three months of 2016. The output increments in the livestock and poultry sub-sectors were not enough to offset the downturn in the performance of the crops and fisheries sub-sectors due to prolonged dry spell and damages caused by Typhoons “Lando” and “Nona”. Inflation remains stable in April 2016

Red tide affects thousands of molluscs along Chile’s coast

ISLA DE CHILOE, Chile (Reuters) — Thousands of molluscs, such as clams and mussels, were found stranded on the island of Chiloe, located in southern Chile, after being infected by a toxic red tide.
