QUEZON City, Philippines – In the National Capital Region, the election was generally peaceful, despite the incidents of malfunctioning vote counting machines. According to the National Capital Region Police Office, voters were able to go to their precincts and exercise their right to vote. The Philippine National Police remains under full alert. Voting machines and ballots already under the jurisdiction of the COMELEC – SMARTMATIC
QUEZON City, Philippines – SMARTMATIC cleared through its spokesperson, Atty. Karen Jimeno, that the Commission on Elections now has jurisdiction over the vote-counting machines, ballots and other election paraphernalia after the turn-over of said equipment and materials even before the delivery of the same.
