“Hello Garci” case now closed — Comelec

COMELEC confident to register 13 million voters for 2016 elections
The Commission on Elections is confident that they will have 13 million voters to register or have their records corrected before the 2016 elections due to the huge turnout on the first day of registration.
Biometric Registration For New Voters
Comelec’s spokesperson James Jiminez gone out to make sure the biometric registration process is convenient for everybody. He said the forms are available from Comelec’s website to download so people who hasn’t yet registered can fill up the forms ahead of time.
Registration Of New Voters Starts Today
The registration of new voters for the 2016 elections officially starts today with the Commission on Elections simultaneously starting its “Walkah-walkah” education campaign. The registration period will last until October 31, 2015.
Politician parties taking voters to registration sites not illegal
Politicians and political parties can take voters to COMELEC offices so that they can register. According to the COMELEC, this is allowed by the said commission because it is also their goal to have a large number of registered voters.
COMELEC targets new 13 million new voters
The Commission on Elections targets 13 million new voters to register, including those with no biometrics, on the May 16 voters registration. Comelec expects 3 million new voters to register while 9 million registered voters will undergo biometrics registration. Registered voters with no biometrics will be disenfranchised in the 2016 elections. Said registration will start on May 6, 2014 and will last until October 31, 2015.

The Commission on Elections is ready for the registration of new voters as well as the registration of biometrics data on May 6.
COMELEC Considers Internet Voting in 2016
Commission on Elections is considering the use of internet technology for voting in the 2016 elections. According to COMELEC Commissioner Lucenito Tagle, Chairman of the Overseas Absentee Voting Committee, this is based on what is provided in the Overseas Absentee Voting Act.
