Bonifacio Monument Circle closed to motorists today, Nov. 30

(Eagle News)–The Bonifacio Monument Circle is closed today to give way to preparations and celebrations to commemorate the 156th birth anniversary of Filipino hero Andres Bonifacio. The Caloocan Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management said the closure was effective 12:01 a.m. It did not say up to when the closure would take effect. The department urged motorists to take expect heavy traffic in the area and to take alternate routes instead.

Duterte cancels attendance to Bonifacio Day rites in Caloocan

(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte cancelled his attendance to the commemoration rites of the birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio in Caloocan. According to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, the President “has to fly to Mindanao to attend to the problem of insurgency in Mindanao.” Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea will take his place. The President had been scheduled to attend wreath-laying rites at the Bonifacio Monument.  

US Embassy in Manila closed on Friday, Nov. 30

(Eagle News) — The United States Embassy in Manila will be closed to the public on Friday, Nov. 30. In a statement, the US Embassy said its affiliated offices will also be closed in observance of Bonifacio Day. DOLE issues pay rules for Bonifacio Day

MANILA, Nov. 24 – Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III advised employers to observe pay rules for the November 30 regular holiday, Bonifacio Day.
