Rep. Farinas: House members agreed to postpone barangay polls this year; elections to be held in May 2018

(Eagle News) — Lawmakers at the House of Representatives have agreed to postpone the barangay elections to May next year. Majority Floor Leader Rodolfo Farinas said this was to allow for the synchronization of the polls with the plebiscite for the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law and Charter change. Comelec to Congress: If barangay polls will be postponed, postpone them ASAP

COMELEC to reopen voters’ registration on October 3

QUEZON City, Philippines – Confident that the Sangguniang Kabataan and barangay elections will be postponed this year, the Commission on Elections post the schedule for the resumption of voters’ registration. The resumption of the voters’ registration will start on October 3 and will last until April 29, 2017. Pokemon GO a no-no in voting precincts on Barangay, SK polls

  (Eagle News)– The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) advised voters on not playing the augmented reality game Pokemon GO at voting precincts during the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 31.   Earlier this month, the game is already facing a possible ban in select places in Quezon City and been blamed for making traffic in EDSA worse.   Fines for motorists playing the game while driving have already been imposed.
