Orange rainfall warning hoisted over Zambales

(Eagle News)–An orange rainfall warning has been hoisted over Zambales, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Monday, Aug. 20. PAGASA said a yellow rainfall warning, on the other hand, is up over Bataan. Light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rains are currently affecting Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac , Nueva Ecija, Laguna, Cavite and Batangas. The state weather bureau said these may persist for  two to three hours.

NDRRMC: At least two killed in incidents caused by enhanced southwest monsoon

(Eagle News) — At least two people have been killed in incidents caused by the continuous rains brought about by an enhanced southwest monsoon. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office on Monday, Aug. 13, said Dioscoro Camacho of Marikina City and Gloria Borlongan Mendoza of Quezon City died of drowning. SC: Executive judges in areas severely affected by rains, floods may exercise discretion to suspend work today

(Eagle News)—Executive judges in areas “severely affected” by the continuous rains and flooding such as Marikina may exercise their discretion to suspend work. This is according to Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio, in a Twitter post on Monday, Aug. 13. Carpio issued the announcement as rains continued to pound parts of the country, with two weather disturbances outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility enhancing the southwest monsoon.

MMDA lifts number-coding scheme in all cities in M. Manila except in Las Piñas, Makati

(Eagle News)–The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Monday, Aug. 13, lifted the number-coding scheme. The MMDA said the suspension applies to cities in Metro Manila, except for Las Piñas and Makati. The suspension came as the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecast continuous monsoon rains in Metro Manila on this day, with two tropical storms outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility enhancing the southwest monsoon.
