QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) – The House of Representatives approved in its third and final reading, the new Anti-Hazing Law which prescribes heavier penalties against all forms of hazing. To strengthen the Anti-Hazing Law, Senator Cynthia Villar proposed in a bill that prospective members of such groups should first seek parental consent before joining if they are under 21. Also proposed is the ban on physical violence in the initiation rites.
Senator Bam Aquino seeks an amendment of the Anti-Hazing Law to make it more effective in reducing or even eliminating hazing-related deaths in the country.
