5.5-magnitude quake hits Occidental Mindoro

(Eagle News)–A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro on Saturday, May 4. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 7 kilometers southwest of Rizal at 9:05 a.m. It had a depth of focus of 12 kilometers. No damage to property was expected  but aftershocks were possible.  

4.0-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Norte early Thursday, May 2

(Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Norte on Thursday, May 2. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, an aftershock of the 5.5-magnitude quake that hit the province on April 26, struck 86 kilometers southeast of General Luna at 2:50 a.m. The depth of focus of the earthquake was 10 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Several aftershocks hit Surigao del Norte on Sunday, April 28

(Eagle News)—Several aftershocks  struck Surigao del Norte on  Sunday, April 28. Based on data provided by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, those with at least a magnitude of 3.0 took place from 12:52 a.m. to 8:41 a.m. The highest magnitude of the quake that struck in that period was 4. 5.5-magnitude quake strikes Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Sur on Wednesday, March 6. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck 102 kilometers northeast of Hinatuan at 8:12 a.m. The quake, which was of tectonic origin,  had a depth of 14 kilometers. Intensity IV was felt in Bislig City, while an Intensity II was felt in Davao City. According to PHIVOLCS, no damage was expected. Aftershocks, however, were expected.
