SWS: Duterte’s satisfaction rating at new “record high”; 80% Filipinos satistied with his performance

(Eagle News) – President Rodrigo Dutere got its highest satisfaction rating to date, with 80 percent of adult Filipinos saying they are satisfied with his performance, according to the Second Quarter survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

The latest survey results showed that only 12 percent of those surveyed were dissatisfied, while nine percent remained undecided.

“Compared to March 2019, gross satisfaction with Pres. Duterte rose by 1 point from 79%, gross undecided rose by 1 point from 8%, and gross dissatisfaction fell by 1 point from 13%,” the SWS said.

“This gives a net satisfaction rating of +68 (% satisfied minus % dissatisfied), classified by SWS as very good. This is a new personal record-high that surpassed the previous record of very good +66 in March 2019 and June 2017,” it said.

-Rise in Luzon ratings noted-

The SWS noted an increase in Luzon that offset the declines in Mindanao, Visayas and Metro Manila.

Duterte’s ratings in Mindanao, VIsayas and Metro Manila, although considered still high, experienced a slight reduction, said the survey firm.

“It stayed excellent in Mindanao, at +81 in June, although down by 7 points from the record-high +88 in March,” it said. It stayed very good in the Visayas, at +66 in June, although down by 3 points from +69 in March. It also stayed very good in Metro Manila, at +59 in June, although down by 2 points from +61 in March,” the SWS explained.

It said that “urban net satisfaction” with President Duterte stayed very good, at +67 in March 2019, while “rural net satisfaction also stayed very good, at +68 in March.”

-Class E ratings for Duterte also at new record-high-

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating also stayed very good in class E, at a new record-high +68.

“This surpassed the previous record of very good +67 in June 2017,” SWS said.

The President’s “net satisfaction rating stayed very good among women, at a record-high +69 (79% satisfied, 11% dissatisfied, correctly rounded) in June 2019, up by 4 points from +65 (78% satisfied, 13% dissatisfied) in March 2019. This ties the record-high set in June 2017,” it said.

Duterte’s ratings also rosee from very good to excellent among 25-34 year olds, at +72 in March 2019 and rose from very good to excellent among those 55 years old and older, at a new record-high +70.

He also rated high among high school and elementary graduates, the SWS said.

His ratings rose by one grade from very good to excellent among high school graduates, at a new record-high +74, while the ratings stayed very good among elementary school graduates, at +62, it said.

The June 2019 Social Weather Survey was conducted from June 22-26, 2019 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide: 300 each in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao (sampling error margins of ±3% for national percentages, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao), the SWS explained.

The area estimates were weighted by Philippine Statistics Authority medium-population projections for 2019 to obtain the national estimates, it said.
