Strong gale cuts off power lines in east China city

(CCTV) — A strong gale following Typhoon Haitang charged through part of Xiamen City in east China’s Fujian Province Monday afternoon, knocking down tree trunks and power lines.

Amateur footage showed the extent of powerful gusts which measures 75-85 kilometers per hour and the aftermath, with debris flying high up in the air, roadways littered with broken branches, twigs and toppled billboards.

The storm took down power lines along a local street, disrupting traffic and knocking out power supply to several nearby villages.

Power supply to the affected villages has been restored as of 07:11 PM yesterday.
