Several senators mourn death of Eddie Garcia

(Eagle News) — Several senators on Thursday, June 20, joined the nation in mourning the passing of Eddie Garcia.

“A fine gentleman and great actor,” Senator Sonny Angara said in a Tweet.

Senator JV Ejercito agreed, adding “Tito Eddie Garcia” was “an institution in the Philippine film industry” and “one of the nicest persons in showbusiness I have met.”

“Isa kang mahalagang haligi ng industriya at naging isang tapat at mabuting kaibigan sa aking ama at sa aming pamilya,” Senator Grace Poe, whose adoptive father was the late actor Fernando Poe Jr., said.

Senate President Tito Sotto said he was “suddenly reminded of our 2004 campaign,” apparently referring to the presidential campaign of the late actor Poe.

“As FPJ was onstage, Manoy Eddie would creep in and make the crowd more jubilant,” Sotto said.

Senator Joel Villanueva described Garcia as a “respected icon and a legend.”

“We join the whole nation in mourning the passing of our dearly beloved veteran actor, Eddie Garcia. Isang malaking kawalan po sa ating industriya at sa ating minamahal na Bayan..,” he said.
