(Eagle News) — A bomb recovered by the police accidentally exploded while inside the Davao City Police Office compound just before noon Saturday, April 20, 2019.
The explosion happened inside the stock room of the police office’s Explosive and Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit inside Camp Domingo Leonor, at around 11:30 a.m., according to Police Major Jason Baria, spokesperson of the Southern Mindanao Police Command.
The police are still determining the cause of the explosion.
Baria said there were no casualties, but the explosion was so powerful that it damaged part of a ceiling of a dormitory across the camp.
Firefighters arrived immediately at the scene to contain the fire caused by the explosion.
