(Eagle News) — The Quezon City government has started giving financial assistance to hog raisers affected by the African Swine Fever.

This came about as more than 900 pigs in the city were culled in quarantine operations to prevent the spread of ASF.

According to the office of Quezon City mayor Joy Belmonte, the owners of 146 pigs which were first culled in Barangay Bagong Silangan were the first ones to receive compensation amounting to P3,000 per mature pig culled, and P1,500 for every young pig culled.

The Quezon City veterinary office also appealed to hog raisers to immediately notify them if they suspect ASF cases in their areas.
