QC court sentences maid to reclusion perpetua for 2009 killings of film critics Tioseco, Bohinc

(Eagle News) — A Quezon City court has sentenced  the maid of film critics Alexis Tioseco and Nika Bohinc to reclusion perpetua, or up to 40 years in prison, for her role in their deaths in 2009.

Branch 100 Judge Editha Mina-Aguba found Criselda Dayag guilty beyond reasonable doubt  of robbery with homicide after it ruled she helped three men rob and then kill the couple in their Quezon City house.

The judge noted that the crime would not have been consummated in the first place without Dayag’s “active involvement.”

It said Dayag opened the door of the house to let the assailants in, and helped them escape, based on testimony provided by a witness, and based on the fact that there was no “forced entry” in the house.

The judge also noted that flight was an “indication of guilt,” noting that Dayag had gone into hiding for years after the commission of the crime until she was arrested.

The judge also ordered Dayag  to pay each of Tioseco and Bohinc’s kin P350,000 in damages.
