(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte visited on Monday night the Libingan ng mga Bayani to commemorate National Heroes Day.

The President made the visit hours after he skipped the National Heroes Day rites and wreathlaying ceremony in the cemetery in Fort Bonifacio.

Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano represented him instead.

Senator Bong Go, the President’s former longtime aide, said  that while the chief executive was “indisposed,” there was nothing to worry about.

In his National Heroes Day message, the President urged Filipinos to be “everyday heroes” and to “reflect on our history and honor the brave souls who courageously fought for our freedom and the democratic ideals upon which our nation is founded.”

“As we face the future together, I encourage everyone to embody solidarity and sustain momentum towards positive change not only for ourselves but for the succeeding generations as well,” he added.
