Invites orchestra to play in Malacanang where he said he is “practically a prisoner”

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte sang his favorite songs, “Ikaw” and “Moon River” with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) after his grueling State of the Nation Address that lasted for more than an hour-and-a-half on Monday, July 22.

The President decided to sing when he passed by the Batasang Pambansa lobby where the orchestra was playing.  He thanked the PPO for gracing the occasion and commended their performance.

He even invited the orchestra to play in Malacanang.

“Tayo-tayo lang.  We’ll have dinner,” he said.  “Good job.”

The President said that he was “practically a prisoner” in Malacanang and to his job, so having the orchestra to play at the Palace would be a soothing change.

“Alam nyo sa totoo lang, I’m a prisoner. I’m so tired.  Hindi ako makagalaw, hindi ako makalabas,” he said, noting that he could not even go out to buy his own underwear.

“So I’m practically a prisoner, legal lang nga.  Presidente ka nga, pero.. ,” the President said of his situation.

Duterte then said he has recommended that his youngest daughter go into the field of music.

“It brings your soul to beauty,” Duterte said.

“It brings you closer to God.  Itong music.  Ang ganda! Bilib ako.  I salute you,” he added.
