President Duterte appoints DOJ Undersecretary Kho as new COMELEC commissioner

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Justice Undersecretary Antonio Kho Jr., as the new Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Commissioner.

Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go announced the appointment of Kho to fill in the previous post vacated by Sheriff Abas who had been earlier appointed as COMELEC chair.

Kho is a bar topnothcer from San Beda College of Law and is a fraternity brother of President Rodrigo Duterte and former Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aquirre II in Lex Talionis.

He is President Duterte’s fourth appointee at the COMELEC.

It was last November that Duterte appointed COMELEC commissioner Abas as the poll body’s chair after the resignation of then chiarman Andres Bautista.

Meanwhile, DIWA Partylist Group Representative Emmeline Aglipay-Villar, Atty. Mark Perete and Adrian Sugay were appointed as new Department of Justice undersecretaries.
