(Eagle News) – Malacanang confirmed on Wednesday afternoon, July 3, that President Rodrigo Duterte had already accepted the resignation of Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) president and general manager Jesus Clint Aranas.

In a text message, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said, “Aranas resignation accepted earlier.”

Aranas submitted his resignation letter dated July 2.

He said he was resigning with the knowledge that he had “unwaveringly advanced the interest of GSIS.”

“I resign, secure in the knowledge that I have unwaveringly advanced the interest of GSIS and its members in discharging the functions of the said office always in obeisance to all laws and never once compromising my integrity or that of the office I now relinquish,” Aranas wrote in his resignation letter.

He had served as deputy commissioner at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) before he was appointed as GSIS president in November 2017.

Malacanang did not disclose the reason for Aranas’ resignation.
