Poultry prices drop due to bird flu scare

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) – The prices of poultry products in Metro Manila markets dropped due to the outbreak of bird flu in Pampanga.

According to the group Samahan ng Industriya ng Agrikultra (SINAG), the price of chicken in Metro Manila markets dropped from an average of Php 160 per kilo to Php 135 per kilo while wholesale prices dropped from Php 125 per kilo to Php 110 per kilo.

The Philippine government on Friday, August 11 confirmed its first bird flu outbreak after 37,000 poultry, quail and ducks died in six farms in San Luis town, Pampanga.
