Potential super typhoon with international name “Mangkhut” to enter PHL by Wednesday

(Eagle News) — A potential super typhoon may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) this week, according to the country’s weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said severe tropical storm ” Mangkhut” was last spotted at 3,255 kilometers East if Southern Luzon (14.7°N, 149.8°E) still outside PAR as of 1:00 PM Monday with maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 135 kilometers per hour.

It is moving at 35 kilometers per hour to the Northern Mariana Islands.

Severe tropical storm “Mangkhut” may enter the country this Wednesday, September 12.

Once it enters, severe tropical storm “Mangkhut” will be named “Ompong.”

Meanwhile, the low pressure area that was spotted North of Basco, Batanes has developed into a tropical depression and was named “Neneng.”
