The Philippine National Police is looking into the possibility the Pasay police intelligence chief who was reported to have been killed during an anti-drugs operation was actually killed by a colleague.

PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde made the pronouncement after the father of the slain Senior Insp. Manuel Taytayon Jr. was quoted as saying his son had revealed to him that a fellow police officer was engaged in illegal drugs.

“Masama yun kung ang kasama mo e malalim pala. Hindi pwede yun. I think that has to be investigated, kung talagang involved yung pulis na yun he needs to be dismissed from the service and charged. Hindi pwedeng kasama yung mga ganyan especially during police operations,” Albayalde said during his visit in Taytayon’s wake on Tuesday, Nov. 27.

So far, Albayalde said the police were looking at drug suspect Narc Delemios’ house on Don Carlos Revilla St., where a police report said the anti-drugs operation took place, and where it said Taytayon was killed by Delemios, the target of the operation.

He said that while two bullets recovered by the Crime Lab from the slain policeman’s back were found to have come from  the suspect’s gun, the other two slugs recovered from Taytayon’s back had yet to be subjected to examination.

Albayalde said that Taytayon will be accorded the highest honors, and his family will receive financial assistance.

“Nakikiramay yung buong pwersa ng pambansang pulisya sa kanila and nakausap din natin sila,” Albayalde said.
