Photos of Britain’s Prince George, 4, starting first day of school

LONDON, England (Reuters) — Britain’s Prince George, third-in-line to the throne, attended his first day of school at Thomas’ Battersea in London on Thursday (September 7).

He was accompanied by his father Prince William but his mother Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, missed the occasion as she was not feeling well enough.

Four-year-old George, the son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, is the great grandson of Queen Elizabeth II.

Kate and William married in a lavish ceremony in 2011 watched by about two billion people around the world.

Two years later, the international camera crews and photographers camped outside a London hospital to record the birth of George and returned two years later for his sister Charlotte.

George and Charlotte have since appeared on the front covers of magazines around the world and traveled on official royal tours of Poland and Germany with their parents.

On Monday (September 4) Kensington Palace confirmed that the royal couple is expecting a third child.
