Photo of the day: Iconic ‘Stumpy’ Cherry Blossom tree in Washington DC

The decaying Cherry Blossom tree known as “Stumpy” continues to bloom at Washington’s Tidal Basin. The tree is among 140 that are scheduled to be removed this May due to construction of a new seawall that would prevent flooding during high tide. Since the announcement of its removal, the popular stump has attracted more visitors and residents hoping to get one last look at the D.C. icon. (Photo by Jowi Figueroa)
