(Eagle News) – The Philippines’ women’s football team entered the 30th SEA Games semi-finals after a 5-0 win against Malaysia on Friday, Nov. 29, advancing in the Philippine race to win a gold at the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).

The Philippine Malditas defeated the Malaysian lady footballers at the Biñan Football Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Philippine men’s football team, the young Azkals, beat the Malaysian men’s team 1-0 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila to stay in the race for a semifinals spot for the SEA Games.

This was the first time that the Philippines beat Malaysia in the SEA Games football in the last 28 years. The last time that the Philippines beat Malaysia was way back 1991 during the SEA Games at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The Philippine women’s football team, which has already won a semis berth, will have to wait until Monday to know which team it would next face.

This will be determined after the Myanmar-Malaysia and the Vietnam-Thailand matches on Monday.

The Azkals, on the other hand, need to beat Timor Leste on Dec. 4, the final day of the eliminations, and hope for a defeat of Cambodia in its next matches against Myanmar and Malaysia, to get into the semifinals.
