PHL dams recover, report increase in water level due to recent rains

(Eagle News) – Philippine dams recovered and have benefited from the rainy weather which the country has been experiencing.

Water levels have increased in Angat dam, Ipo dam, La Mesa dam, Ambuklao dam, San Roque dam, Pantabangan dam, and Magat dam, with only Binga and Caliraya dams experiencing a slight dip in water levels.

The country’s weather bureau, PAGASA, said that Ambuklao and Angat dams had the highest increase in water level in the past 24 hours.

Ambuklao dam in Benguet had an increase of 95 centimeters in the past day, while Angat dam’s water level in Bulacan was up by 92 centimeters.

As of 6 a.m. of Oct. 21, Ambuklao’s reservoir water level stood at 745.06 meters, which was almost a meter above the previous day’s 744.11 meters.

Meanwhile, Angat dam’s reservoir water level stood at 190.17 meters as of Wednesday, 6 a.m., from Tuesday morning’s 189.25 meters.

As of Wednesday, more rains are expected in the island of Luzon because of tropical storm Pepito (Saudel), according to the country’s weather bureau, PAGASA.

PAGASA said that storm “Pepito” will bring moderate to heavy rains over Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, La Union, Apayao, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Calamian Islands today.
