PHL Consul in Maldives: Filipinos in Maldives, safe despite “emergency crisis”

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Philippine Honorary Consul in Maldives Abdulla Salih said that Filipinos in the island-nation remain safe despite the fact that the country declared a state of emergency due to political crisis.

According to Salih, the situations in its capital city, Male and in the entire nation remain “business as usual.”

Aside from this, the official also said that there’s no curfew being implemented in the island.

Salih encouraged Filipinos in Maldives to coordinate with his office if they encounter any problems.

There are 3, 000 Overseas Filipino Workers in Maldives, most of them working in the tourism industry.
