JULY 1 (Reuters) — Actor Paul Rudd has been a Hollywood presence for two decades and now he has the mark to prove it – a star on Tinseltown’s cherished Walk of Fame.
Rudd, who appears in the upcoming Marvel super hero film “Ant-Man,” was on hand Wednesday (July 01), along with co-star Michael Douglas, when the 2,554th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was unveiled in his honor.
“When I was a kid, before I even lived in Kansas, I lived in California, and I remember being a kid and walking this boulevard and reading the names and thinking about what so many other millions of people thought about, which is, you know, who’s an asshole? And the fact that millions of people are going to be able to now see me and ask that same question, time memorial is humbling beyond belief,” said Rudd.
Michael Douglas, who appears opposite Rudd in “Ant-Man,” said that he was amused at how much fun his co-star had donning the costume for the film.
“He was like the kid in the candy shop, I’ve never seen anybody have so much fun in my life. So he made it a truly, truly joyful experience and it gives you a great sense of the casting talents that Marvel has, because there’s nobody better than this gentleman, for ‘Ant Man’,” said Douglas.
Since the release of “Clueless” in 1995, Rudd, 46, has become a film comedy mainstay, with appearances in “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “Knocked Up,” “I Love You, Man,” “This is 40,” and the “Anchorman” films. He has also appeared on the television sitcoms “Friends,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Reno 911!”.
In “Ant-Man,” Rudd stars as a petty thief named Scott Lang, who acquires a special suit that allows him to shrink in size yet gain superhuman strength, allowing him to use his talents to save the world. The film is based off a character written by Stan Lee, which first appeared in Marvel Comic books in the early 1960s.
“Ant-Man” will be released July 17.
