Hostage freed by Abu Sayyaf says he is ‘lucky to be alive’

MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — Messages of thanks are rolling in for the Philippine government and President Rodrigo Duterte after months of negotiation and weeks of fighting with Abu Sayyaf militants finally paid off last weekend. President Duterte asks for extension in campaign against illegal drugs

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte admitted that he cannot suppress the country’s illegal drug problem within six months. The President asked for another six months to address the problem. Furthermore, the President said that while the government was busy fighting illegal drugs and corruption, incidents of kidnapping and terrorism also came up and had to be separately addressed by the Duterte administration.

Three Filipinos die in car accident in Saudi Arabia

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Three Filipinos died after being involved in a car accident in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia. The three were on their way to the United Arab Emirates when their vehicle collided with another. According to the Philippine Consul-General Imelda Panulong, the papers of the three were already being arranged so that their remains could be returned to the Philippines.
