(Eagle News) — A court has ordered the arrest of Edgar Matobato. A radio report said Matobato, who claimed before a Senate inquiry last year that President Rodrigo Duterte was behind the alleged Davao Death Squad,was ordered arrested by Judge Dorothy Gonzaga of Davao del Norte’s Panabo City Regional Trial Court Branch 4. S. African anti-apartheid icon Ahmed Kathrada dies: charity foundation

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AFP) — Leading South African anti-apartheid activist Ahmed Kathrada, who was one of Nelson Mandela’s closest colleagues, died early Tuesday aged 87, Kathrada’s charity foundation said. Kathrada was among those tried and jailed alongside Mandela in the Rivonia trial in 1964, which drew worldwide attention and highlighted the brutal legal system under the apartheid regime. Kathrada spent 26 years and 3 months in prison, 18 of which were on Robben Island.

(Reuters) — The Oleo Sponge can soak up oil in water super quick. It could one day help clean up major spills like the one at Deepwater Horizon seven years ago. Developed at Argonne National Laboratory, it’s made of a polyurethane foam like that used in mattresses. Cyclone Debbie makes landfall in Australia: meteorologists

AYR, Australia (AFP) — Cyclone Debbie made landfall in northeast Australia Tuesday, with lashing rain and howling winds battering the area as local towns went into lockdown.
