More than 2,000 passengers stranded due to “Agaton”

(Eagle News) — Over 2000 passengers were stranded in Visayas and Mindanao due to tropical storm “Agaton.” The Philippine Coast Guard reported that most of the 2, 300 passengers were in northern Mindanao and southeastern Mindanao,with 1,910 affected passengers. PHL among nine countries to benefit from $100-million UN aid

(Eagle News) — The Philippines is among nine countries to benefit from a  $100-million aid from the United Nations. Apart from the Philippines, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Tanzania, Cameroon, Mali, Eritrea, Haiti and Pakistan could avail of the funding that will be sourced from the Central Emergency Fund from the UN in 2018. Department of Agriculture to give financial aid to farmers affected by “Vinta”

(Eagle News) — The Department of Agriculture (DA) will give financial aid to more than 20, 000 farmers affected by “Vinta.” Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol said that insurance payments amount to Php 182 million. Farmers in the Zamboanga peninsula and northern Mindanao will benefit from this. “The SURE Program which stands for Survival and Recovery, grants a P25,000 loan package to farming and fisherfolk families affected by calamities,” Piñol said.
